• What will be expected of me?
As a contributor to the LACBA blog, you will be expected to submit entries on a regular basis. This can be once a week, but can be more or less often as circumstances dictate. When a decision, news item, or other development arises, especially if it concerns your area of practice or specialty, you will be expected to submit a blog post.
We may call you to ask for a contribution, but please don't feel obliged to wait for us to call you. If you read or discover something, feel free to either call or simply send in a post.
• What is the LACBA blog staff looking for?
We are looking for your experience, knowledge, and insight on legal developments. News services already report the news, including the legal news, and the LACBA blog is not equipped to compete with news services. Instead, your blog post should offer legal analysis and insight concerning the news item.
For example, the recent decision concerning gay marriage is widely reported. If you were to send us a blog entry on the story, we would be interested in your lawyer's opinion, not a repeat of the basic news story. An analysis or opinion regarding why each justice wrote or voted the way he or she did would also be welcome.
• How long should my blog posts be?
They can be as short as a sentence or as long as they need to be to cover the item. Some entries can be in the 150-200 word range. Images, including charts, are always welcome.
• How do I get started?
