On December 19, 2008, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that a jury convicted Randy Nowak of trying to murder an employee of the Internal Revenue Service. United States v. Nowak, M.D. Fla., #8:08MJ1362TBM, convicted 12/18/08.
Nowak, owner of a construction company, hired what he thought was a hit man. Unfortunately for Nowak, the hit man worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Nowak gave the supposed hit man $10,000 as a down payment and asked if he would be willing to burn down the local IRS office because he wanted his tax problems to "go away."
